Rubber hose or silicone hose? Rubber hose will do the job for just about any intercooler piping install project. The difference in what you pay for silicone will be in it's longevity. Rubber hose, if used in a high temperature location under the hose can dry out and crack after a year or two. Used in an area with decent air circulation it can last 5 years or more.

Black rubber hose specs:

  • Tube: Blended Buna-N/SBR  (styrene butadiene rubber)
  • Cover: Blended Buna-N/SBR
  • Reinforcement: Nylon screen
  • Temperature Range: 0 to 212 F
  • Vacuum: Not rated
  • Color: Black
  • Hose Material Meets: SAE J20R1

It is chemical resistant to splashes but is not rated for continuous chemical exposure.

Both silicone (left) and rubber hose (right) have internal reinforcing.
The rubber hose has a green stripe.
Turn it over... no green stripe :-)
Silicone hose has a semi-gloss smooth finish.
Rubber hose has a textured matt black finish. Looks more like a factory hose if stealth is what you are going for..
