BINOCULAR STEREOSCOPIC VISION

This represents what both eyes see.

The right face is rotated about 6 degrees inwards to represent what the right eye sees.

The left face is rotated about 6 degrees inwards to represent what the left eye sees.

Another rough example of a 2-eye view of a face can be done by holding your fist upright (a very loose fist) about 12 inches from your face.  Have the palm of your hand towards you.  Put your thumb over your 3rd fingernail.  Raise your 1st and 2nd fingers a little bit but not too high so you can still see the fingernails on your 1st and 2nd fingernails.

Imagine an eye where each of the 1st and 2nd fingernails are and imagine a mouth where the thumbnail is.

Alternate looking at that “face” with your right and left eye.  Notice the  difference from each eye and notice how the background is placed different too.

Most brains can do a lot of fast calculations automatically.  This shows just one part of visual processing.
